These obstacles, coupled with historical injustices and inequities endured by some communities lead to significant apprehension, forcing public health to examine its practices and refine its approach. From the early days of inoculation through the rapid development of the COVID-19 vaccine, scientists have achieved extraordinary feats to combat, contain, and eradicate disease – but it only works if people trust the science.
