Moonlight: At once a vital portrait of contemporary African-American life and an intensely personal and poetic meditation on identity, family, friendship, and love, Moonlight is a groundbreaking piece of cinema that reverberates with deep compassion and universal truths. Anchored by extraordinary performances from a tremendous ensemble cast, Barry Jenkins's staggering, singular vision is profoundly moving in its portrayal of the moments, people, and unknowable forces that shape our lives and make us who we are.

Moonlight was among the first huge art-house successes for the Roxy, shortly after the theater acquired its first DCP projector. It put director Barry Jenkins and then little-known distributor A24 on the map, and remains one of the true classics of the last ten years, a Best Picture winner, and a film beloved by both audiences and critics. Jenkins' sublime direction and James Laxton's stunning cinematography have lost none of their power in the years since; the film is timeless, eternally revelatory.
