The Vespiary: Book Restoration & Bindery!
In January 2023, The Roxy curated one of our most beloved series, a 15-film journey through the 2022 list of the greatest films ever made, curated by the journal Sight & Sound. This month, we return to the canon with SIGHT & SOUND: REDUX, another dazzling array of the world's best movies. Best of all, every ticket purchased to one of these films is an entry into a drawing to win subscriptions to Sight & Sound and the Criterion Channel. Happy New Year--we hope your resolution includes watching plenty of extraordinary movies!

Sunset Boulevard: In Billy Wilder's Noir-comic classic about death and decay in Hollywood, William Holden portrays Joe Gillis, a handsome but bankrupt screenwriter, hired by washed-up silent screen star Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson) to pen her a comeback star vehicle. Gillis has had his latest screenplay rejected by the studios, and, desperate, takes up Desmond's offer to write Salome for her. She demands that he stay with her while he writes, and soon he becomes a virtual prisoner of the actress and her gloomy house.
